We see ourselves as part of a larger story, alongside other movements that share our commitment to supporting women as the change agents of their communities.
We at the Wairarapa Women's Centre are aiming to dismantle systems of oppression.
We are committed to transforming historical conditions of oppression and violence, through initiatives that centre the experiences of All women. We do this by creating safer spaces, both physical and virtual, for the women of the Wairarapa. Safer spaces nurture self-determination, intersectionality, activism, and leadership.
Our strategic priorities are
•Te Ao Māori & Tangata Whenua
•Caring for the natural environment and using sustainable practices
•Gender inclusivity, accessibility & intersectionality
•Prioritizing the needs of the most vulnerable members of our community
We do this work from our Hub located in Masterton, through the work of our program leaders, via our collaborations with partner organisations, and the impact that our members make in our community.
