My name is Laura Doherty, and I am a celebrant, death doula and grief coach with over 20 years of experience supporting folk through all of life’s momentous occasions. I collaborate with individuals and families to craft meaningful, serene, and profoundly personal end-of-life experiences. As an advocate, companion, and attentive listener, I offer a safe haven for exploring death and grief with compassionate guidance.
My why for doing this work is deeply rooted in the belief that every individual deserves the opportunity to make choices until the very end of their journey. Planning for the end and being prepared if one has that ability, is a radical act of kindness and compassion towards oneself and loved ones.
Just as we plan for significant events like holidays, moving house and weddings, why not extend that same care and preparation to the end of life? By doing so, we create space for the dying person to be surrounded with love, compassion, and peace rather than burdened by guilt, shame, or other challenging emotions.
I firmly believe that life is a beautiful journey, rich with opportunities for growth, learning, and connection. Within the depths of our grief lies immense power and intelligence, guiding us towards healing and transformation. Death, as a natural part of life, deserves to be honoured and respected.
Acknowledging and honouring the fears that death brings, I recognise the preciousness of every moment of life. I believe that each of us is here, in our unique expressions, to take up space, live fully, and ultimately depart with a heart filled with fulfilment.
In carrying out this work, it is my mission to provide unwavering support to my clients and their families to the best of my ability. I am committed to listening to their voices, honouring their choices, and walking alongside them until the very end and beyond.
