Human canine collaborative (HCCO) takes an anti-oppression neurodivergent approach to life with dogs, focusing on providing services that are accessible to a socioeconomically diverse population and that are designed through an intersectional trauma-informed perspective. HCCO acknowledges the many ways in which racism, ableism, and other systemic oppressions show up animal welfare and dog husbandry and seeks to cultivate reciprocal relationships with dogs that limit harm and prevent the recreation of oppressive forces. HCCO supports humans and dogs through trauma recovery, grief journeying, and lifestyle modification by cultivating skills in nervous system regulation and somatic consent. HCCO also offers continuing education opportunities to dog care professionals and animal assisted intervention providers, focused on cultivating skills for practicing trauma-informed care and consent-based interactions with all beings. As part of HCCO's accountability initiative, your feedback is welcome to notify us of any areas in which harm has been caused and/or additional knowledge, care, and/or skill development is necessary.
